Fun works better when the serious stuff can be said too

I want a relationship where we can laugh all night and still talk properly when something matters.

Humour is one of my favourite parts of connection, but I have learned that it cannot be used to dodge every uncomfortable conversation.

If something hurts, confuses me or needs to change, I want both people to be able to pause the jokes and say what they mean.

That actually makes the fun parts feel safer. I do not have to wonder whether every serious feeling will be dismissed or turned into a joke.

The ideal balance for me is simple: plenty of laughter, plus enough honesty that neither person has to hide behind it.
